A bunch of monkeys

I didn’t even know we had an Museum of Anthropology but I heard about it recently on the news. It was shut down for MAJOR renovations for the past 10 years!!! After millions of dollars were poured into it the building upgrades it has finally reopened its doors! They wanted it referred to as MOA, (just as it sounds) to make it hip and trendy.

I will definitely be check this out and check back soon for my review.

“If you don’t know where you come from, you don’t know where you are gonna go!”

Check the website for more info: http://www.moa.ubc.ca/.

Sometimes Friday just can’t come too soon, unfortunately we can’t fast forward time yet, or have a clone of ourselves that goes to work for us, so the next best thing????? Party it up on a Thursday night!

After dinner, and not wanting to head home a few buddies and I headed to Republic Night Club on Granville. Get there before 11, and you will not have to worry about lining up…after 11 thou there will be a bit of a wait.

Again sorry for the lack of pictures, I completely forgot to take them. But in words Republic is two floors, the main floor is the dance floor, DJ booth sits above the crowd, and then the second floor overlooks the dance floor and is more for lounging and people watching ;-) . Also on the second floor is a separated room with another DJ, so if you don’t like what’s playing at the main floor check out the other room. On Sunday’s it’s Reggae Night at Republic and I like to sometimes escape to the secondary room for more the Top 40 stuff once in awhile, last time I was there thou DJ wanted $100 for a song request…….THAT’S PRETTY WEAK, it’s your F’n job!

Back to Thursday Night, the crowd is a good mix and definitely more attractive and younger crowd then the Friday night I had at Bar None.

So $5 cover, good crowd, good music, good times before the weekend! I would have to say definitely check out Republic.

Till next time…The city is our playground! Go play!

For a friends birthday party we ended up at Bar None to dance and party the night away. Bar None is at the edge of Yaletown, near Soho the billards place. Personally I always get mixed up which street Bar None is on, but it’s on Hamilton, the North most street of the two main streets that make up Yaletown.

So being January, nightclubs don’t usually hold a big line as they NORMALLY do here in “Hollywood North”, so getting in wasn’t a problem.

Getting in you see everything is all hardwood and have a very classy and elegant look to it. There is no problem getting drinks as there are 3 bars. 1 which stretches pretty much the length of the club, one that is smaller and is across from the “main bar” and finally the bar in VIP. Drink prices are a bit higher than the usual Vancouver price but remember we are in Yaletown, Yuppies everywhere :-p. Coat check is at the VERY back of the clubs downstairs and right outside the washrooms. It’s the “usual” $5 for coat check on top of the $18 cover.

Music is good, and goes well with my personal tastes. It’s a good mix of old school hip-hop, Top 40, and 80’s dance party favorites. So if that’s your type of music you’ll love the music here.

But if you are reading this what you really want to know is the CROWD that goes here. Generally speaking Bar None on Saturdays is for a more mature mid twenties and up crowd with a fairly even distribution of different ethnicities.

Overall it was a fun night, bartenders are really talented ;-) .

You know what what that means?

It means the nineties is coming back!

and you know what else that means?

It means I’m officially old when fashion starts to repeat in the decade I grew up in. You too “partystarter” and I”ll tell you why.

So they’ve done mostly everything in fashion up to the 80’s…

What’s left?

The 90’s!

Its far enough now that they can bring back the nineties. I been watching them for a few years now trying to bring it back and now after many attempts people are caving it. I been predicting that for a few years now and I have evidence to prove that its coming back with karl lagerfields fall collection.

You know how designers like to do it, they take something vintage and make it new again with a modern touch.

So who or what was the biggest teen icon of the 90’s? The movie Clueless of course!

Ex. Blaire (Gossip Girl) Cher – (Clueless) = the the 90’s with a touch of modern.

Crop tops, Calvin Klein undies will pokin its head out from your jeans, baggie pants, grunge…. ohhh it will be back but let’s just hope those mini backpacks don’t come back!

Here’s a quick peak ….

For all those azn fangirls in Vancouver that are in love with korean pop singer Taeyang.. good news!! A newly leaked song today “Fall in Love”. No homo for all the guys if you like this song too..stop bein insecure :P  I’m gonna admit this song is pretty addicting myself.

Hello all, HAPPY NEW YEAR to everyone! Today is the Monday that most people are dreading :-p. Waking up and having to return to work after a holiday of family, friends, food, and all the festive fun!

Don’t let the title miss lead you, Massive Gala was a lot of fun and the place was packed with people according to ticket sales there was 4500 people in the Pacific Coliseum this was Vancouver’s Largest NYE party of 2009, but it felt “REGULAR” nothing special.

The arena was divide into 4 different areas, VIP was on the second floor and the main floor was divide in 3 each with there own DJ, the entrance area AKA coat check and stairway to VIP, the MAIN arena with the stage all ready for go-go dancers and Sean Paul and another room adjacent to the entrance room.

I gotta say the VIP lounge was okay, sure the lines for booze was shorter and you get to rub shoulders with Kid Carson, and free food. But they REALLLY needed a VIP coat check and regular coat check was a zoo, and the view of the STAGE where the dancers danced and Sean Paul sang was like standing in NOSE BLEED territory.

The whole event to me felt like a highschool dance party to me :-p. Although I maybe expecting too much because I think most NYE are pretty much a regular night at the clubs…except for the CRAZY cover charges. AT LEAST at the Massive Gala we had Sean Paul! (Originally it was suppose to be Young Jeezy).

Maybe with age you become harder and harder to impress because you seen and done it all :-p.

Massive Gala an absolute FUN night but not impressive.

Pictures to come…I gotta “develop” the SD card in my Digital Camera <– geek humor! For those of you that get it *thumbs up*.
