A bit late on this one (sorry about that) but the Akron, Ohio-based duo The Black Keys are coming to the Orpheum October 3rd to promote their upcoming album “Brothers”. Be sure to check out their new video for the single “Next Girl” which features dinosaurs and bikini girls! Two things that go hand in hand like peanut butter and jelly.

If you’re looking for something to do tonight, I’d recommend checking out Shearwater at the Biltmore Cabaret tonight. Founded by members of Okkervil River, Shearwater is a bit of a divergence with quieter, more grandiose songs.

I have to admit, I was sorely disappointed by their recent sophomore release, ‘Congratulations’ and have heard that their performance is mediocre at best. But still, if you’re a fan, now’s your chance to check them out live in Vancouver.

The New York Time’s is streaming The National’s new album “High Violet” right now until April 27th!
The album will be released May 11th. I, for one, cannot wait for it. I’ve been a huge fan of them since I saw them perform at Richard’s on Richard’s back in 2007 before their then release “Boxer” exploded in popularity.
I’ve been keeping an eye out for their inevitable return to Vancouver. With all the bands performing at the Sasquatch Music Festival, I’m surprised they haven’t released a tour date here like other acts (Massive Attack, LCD Soundsystem, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros and The Temper Trap to name just a few). Patience, grasshopper…
Anyways, definitely give the new album a listen. I’ve been listening to it all morning and it’s epic.
